SYSTEM FILE CHECKER (1998)

Windows 98’s System File Checker opened a graphical dialog. You could scan for altered files, adjust the scan settings, or extract one file from the Windows installation disk.

This recreation checks a sample installation and demonstrates file extraction. All operations are simulated within the Vault.

Condition: Scan for altered files, or extract a file from the installation disk.

The program is open in its own window. Everything in it is imaginary: nothing on your computer is touched.

System File Checker

System File Checker verifies the integrity of your system files.

Select an option and click Start.

Searches for files that have been modified or damaged.

Windows 98 utility recreation. All files and operations are simulated.
